Which R4 DS Card Do You Need?

This all depends on which Nintendo DS, Nintendo DSi or Nintendo 3DS system you have.  All of the R4 DS cards will work on any of the DS versions world wide.  We mean to say that it does not matter if you have a USA, European, or Asian version of the Nintendo system.  The cards are all universal and will work regardless of where you buy your DS.  What it does come down to is compatibility with the specific model of the hand held system that you currently have, or plan to have.

The R4 DS Card was created when the first Nintendo DS system came out.  As such, it works perfectly on any Nintendo DS and even the new Nintendo DS lite systems.  It will not however work on the DSi or the Nintendo DSi XL.  The DS and DS Lite, while strikingly different in look and feel, are essentially the same system, just updated.  Your choices in this case are the original R4 and the R4 SDHC Cards.  The DSi on the other hand was a complete redesign, and the R4 won't be able to work on that system in any way.  

If you have a Nintendo DSi or DSi XL system, then the R4i SDHC Card is the card of choice.  It was released when the DSi was released, and it is 100% compatible with all DSi and DSi XL systems world wide.  The R4i SDHC, R4i Gold and the Acekard 2i also work perfectly on these systems.  Please make sure to read all product descriptions for complete compatibility information.  We won't steer you wrong.

For the new Nintendo 3DS owners, there are a number of cards that have come out, as well as older cards which through firmware updates will work on the Nintendo 3DS.  When it comes to this new system, we strongly recommend the R4 3DS card or the R4i 3DS Gold card.  Both of these cards work flawlessly on the new 3DS.  The Acekard 2i as well as several other cards have received updates to enable them to work on the new Nintendo 3DS as well.
